Harbor Freight sells a sandblaster for about $150. Although decent for some hobbiests, this blaster in stock form does not perform efficiently and lacks some features that would be handy for larger or heavier pieces. | What you see here looks very similar to the photo to the left with a small black band (and a few other) modifications. In the door, recesses were covered to prevent the accumulation of blast media in the door. |
The black band allows the lid to open from the front. This allows for a more ergonomic loading of heavy parts like cylinder heads The extra height provides more space inside the cabinet for steel wheels that couldn't fit through the side door. Blast Cabinets with these features approach $1000. | The lighting that came with the cabinet was very inadequate. Lighting was replaced (to what you see here) to allow for plenty of visibility. |
A vent tube was added next to the media pick-up tube. It allows for a better flow of media and more efficient cleaning.. | Although a little messy from use, some additional added accessories include: Air Separator, dust evacuation system, and accessory air and electrical outlets. |
